SEAGROVE The bridge over Eastern Lake near the Seagrove community on Walton County Road 30A is expected to reopen Wednesday after being closed since early Sunday because of a water line break.
The break in the 12-inch water line operated by Regional Utilities occurred early Sunday. Under its franchise agreement with the county, Regional Utilities provides water and wastewater services in the area between the Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, from Sandestin to Rosemary Beach.
Regional Utilities was quickly able to use its valve system to direct water away from the break, eliminating the need for the issuance of any boil water orders to its water customers, according to Louis Svehla, the county s public information manager.
Gainesville Regional Utilities is on a misguided mission to promote natural gas. On its website you can read what at first sounds like a joke: “With natural gas, water heats up twice as fast and stays hot longer! Clothing dries more quickly and with fewer wrinkles! Food tastes better when prepared using natural gas!” This would be funny if it weren’t so costly and wrong.
So desperate is GRU to push natural gas over electricity that our local utility company is now offering rebates (up to $1,600 per location!) to convert electric hot water heaters, furnaces, ranges and dryers to natural gas.
