Hopeson Adorye was invited and not arrested – NPP

Hopeson Adorye, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Kpone Katamanso Constituency The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kpone-Katamanso has called on Ghanaians to ignore media reports of the arrest of their 2020 parliamentary candidate, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye for allegedly threatening to kill the Municipal Chief Executive. The Tema Regional Police Command had said it arrested Mr Adorye and granted him Police enquiry bail pending investigations for allegedly issuing a threat of death to the MCE, Mr Solomon Tettey Appiah. However, a statement signed by Mr Prince Dadzie, spokesperson for Team Hopeson 2020 and released on December 15, 2020 described media reports on the arrest as false. He was rather invited by the Police.

Body of missing miner in Gbane pit collapse retrieved

The pit collapsed on the miners The body of a missing small-scale miner was retrieved from one of the mining pits that got flooded and trapped 17 men at Gbane, a mining community in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region. He was among 10 miners killed when a downpour on Monday night flooded the mining pits at the site. The bodies were retrieved by some of their colleagues and handed over to the Police, who released them to their families for burial. Mr Robert Tampua Boazor, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the Small-Scale Miners Association, confirmed the retrieval of the body of the missing miner in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Gbane.

Good relationship between police and public critical for crime prevention – Superintendent Kwabena Otuo

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service Superintendent Kwabena Otuo Acheampong, Regional Crime Officer, Tema Regional Police Command, has stated that a cordial working relationship between the Police and the public was critical for crime prevention. He noted that the public and the police needed each other to ensure maximum security. “We cannot have effective policing without the active involvement of the public, while the public cannot live in a safe environment without the police, we must, therefore, work together instead of fighting each other.” Supt. Acheampong was speaking at the third monthly Stakeholder Engagement seminar organized by the Ghana News Agency Tema Regional Office to enable state and non-state actors to address national issues.
