Jerry Bennett: I m a full-time freelance illustrator, and have been working from home along with my wife, a home baker (@countrygilrkitchen), which made the pandemic much more manageable not having to leave the house much. Neither of us, or any immediate family, have had Covid, but we have had countless friends who contracted it, and many of their family members have been lost to it. UL WBB Defeats Texas St. for First Conference Win   The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns captured their first league win of the 2020-2021 Sun Belt Conference women s college basketball season on Saturday afternoon. Louisiana defeated the Texas St. Bobcats, 67-41, in San Marcos, Texas, avenging a 71-63 loss to Texas St. in the conference opener for the respective schools on Friday. The Cajuns, who led the contest, 14-11, at the 1:21 mark of the first quarter, went on a 15-0 run, to extend their advantage to 29-11 at the 4:44 mark of the second quarter. UL would allow Texas St. only two more points the remainder of the half, as the Cajuns outscored the Bobcats, 16-2 over the final 11:21 of the first half to take a 30-13 lead into the halftime break.

Louisiana Ragin Cajuns WBB Falls at Texas State 71-63

Brandi Williams scored a season-high 20 points for Louisiana, but it wasn t enough on Friday in San Marcos, as Louisiana Ragin Cajun women s basketball fell to Texas State 71-63 in the first Sun Belt game of the season. Turnovers proved to be a big difference-maker, as UL gave it away 16 times. Texas State took advantage, scoring 22 points of the giveaways. The Bobcats finished with 13 turnovers of their own, which the Cajuns turned into 10 points. Trailing by 10 entering the 4th quarter, coach Garry Brodhead s squad refused to go away, going on a 7-0 run to close the deficit to 6 points late to keep the game in question, but in the end, they ran out of time.
