Sioux Lookout’s Brandon Stanley was held off the scoresheet Tuesday afternoon as his Niagara Purple Eagles fell 5-4 to the R.I.T. Tigers in NCAA men’s D1 hockey action.
The Purple Eagles got out to an early 1-0 lead but the Tigers would come back with two of their own before the end of the first to take the lead and wouldn’t look back.
Through six games this year, Stanley has two points (one goal, one assist) and two penalty minutes.
The former U18 Kenora Thistle is in his second season with University of Niagara having put up 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 33 games his freshman year.

As the NCAA D1 hockey season continues, a pair of former U18 Kenora Thistles teammates met as the Niagara Purple Eagles and Mercyhurst Lakers played to a 3-3 draw.
The Lakers did, however, come away with a bonus point thanks to a shootout victory.
Dryden’s Geoff Kitt finished with one assist for Mercyhurst as he set up Jonathan Bendorf to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead in the first period.
Purple Eagles forward Brandon Stanley, who hails from Sioux Lookout, was held off the scoresheet entirely.
The two teams will play again Friday.
Stanley and Kitt played together on the U18 Thistles during the 2014/2015 season. That year, Kitt finished third in team scoring with 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) while Stanley led the team with 41 points (23 goals, 18 assists).
