What s often referred to as purity culture is not the same thing as remaining sexually abstinent outside of marriage, though many conflate the two, according to Tim Keller, founder and former pastor of Redeemer Church in New York City.
Keller explained in a Facebook post that in the early church, the Christian sexual ethic that sex was only for within a mutual, whole-self-giving, super-consensual life-long covenant was revolutionary, given the prevailing Greco-Roman ethic of the day. It was based on a radical egalitarian principle that the husband’s body belonged to the wife, and the wife’s to the husband (1 Corinthians 7:4). That meant that anyone who within marriage exploited or abused was violating the Christian sex ethic just as much or more as those who had sex outside of marriage, he said.

Mastercard is updating its requirements for banks that process payments for porn sites following growing condemnation of porn and social media sites that have profited off videos showing rape and illegal sexual content involving children.

The biggest problem in America is a “lukewarm church” that is “bowing at the altar of race,” megachurch pastor and prominent Latino evangelical leader Samuel Rodriguez believes. Somehow, race just became God, the 51-year-old pastor of the Sacramento, California-based New Season Church said in an interview last week with Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report.
The pastor, who is of Puerto Rican heritage, noted that some pastors speak more about race than they do about Jesus, Moses or Abraham. Race and sexuality became idols, he elaborated, And we are worshiping on the altar of the gods created by culture.

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has assured that pastors will not face criminal charges for counseling individuals seeking help with unwanted same-sex attraction as Parliament seeks to ban so-called conversion therapy.
In a March 27 letter responding to concerns raised by the Evangelical Alliance and its 3,500 member churches that clergy might potentially face criminal prosecution, the prime minister said: As the Government made clear in 2018, when we first made our commitment to end conversion therapy, we will continue to allow adults to receive appropriate pastoral support (including prayer), in churches and other religious settings, in the exploration of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
