John Zinn had an uncanny ability to make things happen, sometimes seemingly out of thin air. I’ll give you two of my favorite examples.
One day, when John was on a flight from DC to California, a child on his plane had a seizure. The boy had never had a seizure before and his mother had no idea what was happening. John, a trained EMT, immediately went into action. He laid the boy out on his side and made sure his airway was clear, got a cool washcloth on his neck, and completely handled the situation including keeping the boy’s mother calm until the boy was okay again.

In the 2021 ZiPS projections that are live on this very website, Lucas Giolito is projected with the most WAR of any pitcher in baseball. If my social media is any indication, this projection is, so far at least, the source for the most joy and the most consternation. What is it about Chicago’s young ace that gives him such an aggressively optimistic projection?
One of the common complaints you see from readers about projections is that they don’t go out on a limb very often. To me, this makes perfect sense: when talking about the mean projections, massive performance changes should rarely be the player’s typical expectation. Think back on José Bautista back in 2010. At the time, Joey Bats was a player pushing 30 who had hit .238/.329/.400 in the majors in more than 2,000 plate appearances for five major league teams. As we now know, his destiny was to explode on the scene, slugging .617 for the Blue Jays, resulting in the first of his eventual six All-Star

Opening Day For The Utah State Legislature
The Utah Legislature’s 2021 General Session started Tuesday. In his opening remarks, House Speaker Brad Wilson, R-Kaysville, reflected on the challenges of the past year. He also said this is a time of “great opportunity” and he wants to build on Utah’s economy by reviewing business regulations. In the Senate, President Stuart Adams, R-Layton, said he wanted to focus on the state’s mental health efforts. Republicans hold a supermajority in both chambers. Adams and Wilson each said they want a tax cut for Utahns this year. Read the full story.

SALT LAKE CITY â New COVID-19 clinical trials taking place in Utah are investigating if antibody therapy can help people recover from COVID-19.
The University of Utah, in partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine, is conducting the research study with symptomatic people who tested positive for COVID-19 within six days.
The experimental therapy takes antibodies from someone who recovered from COVID-19 and transfuses the convalescent plasma to the patients who just got sick.
