Overton From Tenth To Victory At The New I-75 Raceway On Friday Saturday, April 17, 2021 - by Steve Hixson - photo by Michael Boggs Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga. showed his muscle Friday night at the new I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater as the Spring National series headlined the night of racing action on the newly configured clay oval between Knoxville and Chattanooga.
Dale McDowell of Chickamauga set fast time of the 32 entrants, but it was Big Sexy racing his #76 Wells Motorsports Overton Crossfit, All-Star Concrete, EZ-GO, Big Dog Stump & Tree spot Longhorn/Clements powered machine from 10th to the lead, before halfway in the 53 lap feature.
Maintaining momentum that saw him capture his second consecutive Xtreme DIRTcar Series points title a week ago at Modoc Raceway, Madden bested polesitter Jonathan Davenport on the initial start and never looked back, proving adept in lapped traffic during a feature event slowed by only two yellows and that ended with a more than 40-lap green-flag run. Though both Davenport and Mike Marlar each got to within a bumper of Madden in the closing laps, neither mounted a serious challenge for the win.
The highest finishing WoO LM regular in Saturday night’s feature was Brandon Sheppard in a distant eighth place.
