Adrienne Siddens lost her husband Randall in a distracted driving crash in 2019. He was struck by a driver using FaceTime at the time of the crash. Adrienne is now an advocate for distracted driving legislation. She hopes other drivers understand the impact of this issue. I just want people to understand the severity of what could happen in a matter of a second, whenever you aren t paying attention, she said.

The Missouri House is considering a bill that would allow students to enroll in schools that are outside their local district.
State Representative Brad Pollitt is the bill’s sponsor.
He says it’s a step in the right direction for public education reform.
But Mike Wood with the Missouri State Teachers Association says small school districts might face consolidation if enough students leave for bigger schools.
He says he’s also concerned with what happens to the community if that happens because the school is the community.
The Missouri News Network says the decision on whether to admit a student from an outside school district would be in the hands of the receiving district.

Parents looking for different public education opportunities for their children could soon have more options within Missouri. House Bill 543 would allow for students to enroll in schools outside their home districts.
The bill’s sponsor, Representative Brad Pollitt, says the bill is a step in the right direction for public education reform.
Mike Wood, a representative from the Missouri State Teachers Association, testified in opposition to the bill. Wood says small school districts might face consolidation as a result of students leaving for larger districts.

Representative Brad Pollitt, a Republican, who represents parts of Johnson and Pettis Counties (District 52) in the Missouri House of Representatives, is scheduled to be the featured speaker at an area event next month.
Whiteman Air Force Base’s 33rd Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Memorial Park Cemetery at 3306 Greenridge Road in Sedalia.
The event is being held in memory of 2nd Lieutenant George A. Whiteman of the U.S. Air Force (born October 12, 1929; died December 7, 1941).
Pollitt was elected to his first two-year term in November 2018.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Pollitt is the owner and operator of Rocher P. Cattle Company LLC. He previously worked as an educator and administrator for 34 years. Pollitt served as a teacher and coach in North Shelby and Sedalia; a principal in Smithton; assistant superintendent in Knob Noster; and superintendent in Sedalia.
