Jamie O’Brien knows how to get after it. First and foremost, he’s a great surfer. Second, he’s a great personality that has revolutionized how athletes get their content out to the public. He’s become his own media outlet. Recently, Jamie and Brad Domke (he of the finless board) met up in Mexico to charge some heavy beach break. Well, Jamie had a Jet Ski break down but still managed to get some super-clean barrels and drag Brad into his share as well.

Mason Ho surfing the Wedge is a little bit of YouTube perfection, because Mason’s surfing and the wave at the Wedge go together like ham and scalloped potatoes. Like Easter and bunnies, Christmas and big, white-bearded men in red suits. You get the idea.
Mason, as you’ve likely seen, is a guy who likes to surf waves that most people don’t. He surfs close to rocks, surfs over the shallowest of reefs, and bounces around in backwash like he was born in a washing machine. It’s all very entertaining, and his most recent vlog is no different.
The World Surf League even estimated the waves could have reached 60 feet.
The gigantic swell was triggered by a massive north-west swell that had closed out Waimea and turned Jaws into a monster.
Some of the most daring big-wave heavies took on the swell, including Nathan Florence, Kai Lenny, Makuakai Rothman, Brad Domke, Justine Dupont, Albee Layer, Ian Walsh, Shaun Walsh and, incredibly, a 12-year-old by the name of Steve Roberson.

Hawaii is in the midst of a swell of epic proportions. Oahu’s outer reefs are closing out. Maui is shaking from the thunderous waves breaking at Jaws. Justine Dupont snagged the barrel of a lifetime. Brad Domke appeared on a skimboard. A windsurfer and an unknown surfer shared a wipeout that likely will give them both nightmares. It was a weekend to remember, and it’s still pumping.
Waimea Bay joined in on the fun, too. It was truly massive. It was a day for the Eddie. When the Bay is closing out, you know it’s big. In this day and age, we’re lucky enough to have access to tiny, incredible cameras that are attached to remotely controlled flying machines. It lets the viewer see angles that we couldn’t normally see without the use of a helicopter or wings, and a very skilled drone pilot named Ryan De Seixas took off over Waimea to capture footage of a weekend that blew the doors off most other weekends.
