Shea Langeliers hit a grand slam home run in the fourth inning on Thursday night, and the Mississippi Braves outlasted the Montgomery Biscuits at Trustmark Park, 7-6.
In a game that featured three home runs and 14 walks, the M-Braves (9-12) took a 2-1 series advantage after Montgomery (8-12) tied the game twice at 4-4 and 6-6, before finally staying ahead for good.

Jake Eder had to wait a while to make a competitive first impression on his new organization. By the end of his first inning on the mound, he had four strikeouts. Mission accomplished.
In his debut professional start, Miami’s No. 24 prospect struck out 12 against three walks and allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings, earning the win as Double-A Pensacola beat Mississippi, 5-1.
Eder’s first night as a Double-A starting pitcher began in a quirky way. After fanning Mississippi’s Justin Dean to kick off the game, the left-hander whiffed Braden Shewmake for what looked like the inning’s second out. A wild pitch for strike three, however, allowed Shewmake to reach first base. Trey Harris followed with a walk, and the pair combined for a double steal to put both in scoring position.

Pitching
Nolan Kingham has reportedly been a standout in extended spring training, and there’s reason to believe he could find himself in Triple-A to start the season. That said, with the crowded rotation I expect he may get an opportunity when someone is promoted but for now will just stick in Double-A for a little bit. He had a 3.79 ERA in Mississippi in 2019, but a 4.64 FIP with a lot of home runs and very few strikeouts in 35 ⅔ innings. One would like to see him strikeout more batters than he has in his professional career
