With changes happening around Brownwood, particularly in the historic downtown area, “Visit Brownwood” revealed a new look for their website and digital content on Monday. The site serves as an information hub for anyone looking to visit the heart of Texas and experience why Brownwood “Feels Like Home” in so many ways.
Assistant Director of the Brownwood Municipal Development District offered some insight on the changes for the site.
“With the City of Brownwood recently rebranding, and all the changes downtown, it was a good time to reflect the new look and energy in Brownwood with the Visit Brownwood website,” McIntosh said.

A few weeks ago, a new mural was completed at Pat Coursey Park in downtown Brownwood. Now, another new edition to the park has been installed. A shade structure is located at the intersection of Baker and Center Avenue. It will come in handy just in time for the Cinco de Mayo celebration downtown on Friday evening. In the coming months, picnic tables and additional lighting will be added to the park through funds budgeted by the Brownwood Municipal Development District.

Brownwood City Council Ward 3 candidates Melody Nowowiejski and Linda Heitman spoke on topics including housing and the current city government at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon Friday.
Rex Tackett moderated the Q&A at the Brownwood Country Club.
Early voting in the May 1 election for the Brownwood and Bangs city councils begins Monday at the Brown County Elections Office.
Nowowiejski and Heitman are competing to replace Larry Mathis in Brownwood s Ward 3. Mathis announced his resignation from the council because he and his wife are moving out of town.
Fuzzy s Taco Shop coming to Shaw s Marketplace

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, which opened as a single restaurant in Fort Worth in 2003 before expanding nationwide, will be coming to Shaw’s Marketplace in downtown Brownwood.
Fuzzy’s will open in the spring of 2002, Shaw’s Marketplace co-owner Matt McCrane announced.
Shaw’s is owned by McCrane, his wife Megan and his parents, Steven and Lori. Megan and I are excited to bring a familiar franchise to downtown Brownwood in Shaw s Marketplace,” Matt McCrane said via email. “Fuzzy s Taco Shop is appearing in many locations nationwide. With their Baja tacos, shredded chicken nachos, chips & guac, and frozen margaritas, it will add a unique flare to our community.
