The unexpected detections may be due to a person or persons with Covid-19 being in the early active infectious phase or it could be because they are continuing to shed the virus after the infectious period, the health department said in the alert. While it is possible that these detections are due to a visitor or visitors to these areas who are not infectious, a cautious approach is being taken.

Fragments of Covid-19 have been found in sewage water in 31 Melbourne suburbs despite no community cases of the virus in Victoria in nearly two months.
The updated alert on Tuesday night urged anyone living in the suburbs in northern and eastern Melbourne to monitor for symptoms of the virus.
Victoria s last locally acquired case was 53 days ago.
Health officials said the sewage samples were either due to a positive case shedding Covid-19 in the early stages of an infection or when they are no longer contagious.

After 20 years, the result will be chaos and civil war
Tony Wright hits the nail on the head with his piece on the troop withdrawal (The Age, 16/4). Afghanistan, a country comprised of competing tribal and ethnic forces, is likely to descend into chaos and a civil war is likely to ensue. One only needs to look at Iraq for evidence of what happens when there are competing forces attempting to fill a power vacuum following a long war waged by international forces.
