The Carlton Hotel in Great Yarmouth - Credit: Bespoke Hotels Two seafront Norfolk hotels which had been set to shut for good will reopen under new owners next month. The Grade II listed sites, the Carlton Hotel in Great Yarmouth and the Golden Lion Hotel in Hunstanton will reopen as part of the Coast & Country Hotel Collection, a newly formed group of former Shearings Hotels. The Shearings Hotels group collapsed last summer owing more than £200m with 2,500 people losing their jobs. Hotels in Cornwall in St Ives, Newquay and St Mawes saved from closure

Four hotels facing long-term closure in Cornwall have been saved by new owners. The Ship & Castle in St Mawes, the St Ives Bay in St Ives, and the Marina and Beresford hotels in Newquay, are set to reopen as part of the Coast & Country Hotel Collection, a newly formed collection of former Shearings Hotels. With all four hotels having gone into administration in May 2020 as part of Shearings Hotels, it was feared they would remain closed indefinitely. The initiative is seeking to reinvigorate the hotels’ offering, helping to showcase their amenities, the wonderful locations nearby and key attractions.
