Sir Ben Ainslie and his British SailGP team showed new speed in winning the Bermuda regatta.
SailGP organisers are crediting their new wingsail for helping Sir Ben Ainslie smash their speed record. Figures from the opening regatta have been released, showing Ainslie’s British boat hit 94.8kmh on their way to winning the event in Bermuda. That translates to just over 51 knots. It’s a step on from the 92.6kmh Tom Slingby’s Australian team set in season one in 2019.
