Environment Oregon Climate Defender Campaign Associate Posted by Environment Oregon Campaign Associate With ambitious climate policies failing to gain traction at the state level and increasing numbers of wildfires, droughts and other climate impacts already hitting Oregon, now is a more critical time than ever to make concrete progress in the fight against climate change. We need to stop using fossil fuels, shift to renewable energy, use energy more efficiently, and reform the material economy that drives our society to consume past Earth’s carrying capacity. Oregon can and should play a key role in realizing this vision.  The Environment Oregon Climate Associate would work on our Climate Defenders campaign, organizing volunteers who regularly make their voices heard and help educate and engage other Oregonians on climate change.

United Way raises over $1 9 million during annual fundraising campaign

After months of tireless work the United Way of Perth Huron wrapped up their fundraising campaign.  Usually a big event is held featuring speakers, a meal, and 300 plus people, but COVID-19 moved everything online.  Campaign Co-Chairs Martin and Kathryn Ritsma announced the record breaking amount raised from their home last night.

Donations are doubled in March for expansion of Transitional Care – Sheridan Media

Due to an extremely generous community gift supporting Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s Transitional Care Expansion Project, a 100% match will be made for all gifts received during the month of March.  Should potential patrons make any size donation to the project during the month of March, that amount will be doubled, according to a Sheridan Memorial press release.  “This matching gift could not have come at a more important moment, as we launch the Transitional Care Expansion to our community,” Foundation Board President and Campaign Co-Chair Richard Garber said. “It not only fills the growing need to care for individuals after a hospital stay, but will also help ensure their safe and successful return home. Another positive is that this project repurposes the original 1954 building back to patient care. This is an excellent use of space and, once completed, our professional team of providers and rehabilitation staff will be able to offer care to more individuals. It all co
