A new online safety campaign aimed at protecting children in their digital worlds is being promoted on a huge screen in Blackburn town centre. The digital screen, which is located close to the town hall, has been sharing online safety help and advice as part of the new campaign, called Blackburn with Darwen Safety Net. Recent analysis by the NSPCC found the coronavirus pandemic created the perfect opportunity for online offenders, after a surge in online grooming crimes was reported.

Minister of Civic Education and National Unity, Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo, has expressed displeasure with the rate at which cases of cyberbullying are rising in Malawi.

Mtambo has since committed himself to using his ministerial authority and influence to champion the fight against cyberbullying and harassment.
The minister made the commitment when he signed a petition by Plan International Malawi on Thursday. The petition calls for an end to cyberbullying, harassment and abuse of girls.

Burma Army soldiers arrested Sumlut Roi Ja, a 28-year-old mother, on October 28th 2011 while she was working on the family’s farm near her village Hkai Bang, close to the China border.
Her husband and father-in-law were also arrested and they were forced at gunpoint to carry corn to a military camp, Battalion 321, at Mubum. They managed to escape, but Sumlut Roi Ja was left behind.
Burma Campaign UK said that several witnesses saw her after her arrest at the military camp.
