Labour’s West Lothian Council depute leader Kirsteen Sullivan took second place on 12,588, with Bathgate’s Conservative councillor Charles Kennedy adding almost 2,000 votes to his 2016 showing in the constituency, polling 9,472 votes.
The turnout was 62.2 per cent of the electorate, up almost 10 per cent on 2016. The SNP’s majority was down in terms of percentage, but up in terms of votes to 10,105 – an extra 4,219 on the 2016 figure.
Fiona Hyslop said: “I want to thank all the 22,693 voters across the towns and villages of West Lothian in the Linlithgow Constituency for voting for me and I pledge to serve all my constituents, whether or not they voted for me, to the best of my ability and make sure their issues and concerns are heard at the heart of Government.
