City Council picks finalists and is seeking community input and involvement in next steps
The Gresham City Council has selected three finalists for the position of city manager and is seeking community input and involvement in next steps.
Mayor Travis Stovall will host a virtual community forum on Wednesday, April 21, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to introduce the finalists: Jamal Fox, Patrick Quinton and Nina Vetter.
Following the first round of interviews for the city manager position earlier in 2021, the City Council re-opened the recruitment process, which remains open until filled. In total, 37 candidates who applied by March 22 were considered for this phase of the process.
Pueblo West Metro District: It s tax season, and we want to show where your money goes
Nina Vetter
Since we’re coming up on tax season, we thought we’d take a minute to run through Pueblo West taxes and where our local tax dollars go.
We know it’s probably not your favorite topic, but we are often asked where exactly the money goes.
First and foremost, you can find detailed information about exactly what the Pueblo West Metro District spends the $9 million in general fund dollars on our Financial Transparency Website at pueblowestmetro.com/taxdollars.
Two of our largest budgets are for fire emergency response and streets and roads, largely because both of these functions require a large number of employees to do the work.
2020 was a challenging year for many in our Pueblo West community, but together we overcame the challenges and limitations we faced to continue to serve our community, build a stronger Pueblo West and support each other in the great quality of life we all know and love in Pueblo West.
As a local government, the Pueblo West Metropolitan District had to ensure that we continued to provide the community with great services, even in the wake of COVID-19.
We know that it is vital the water starts running when you turn on the sink, the toilet flushes when you need it to, you can get approval for your new fence when you need it, and your favorite potholes get fixed.
In its second meeting of 2021, the Pueblo West Metro District Board unanimously decided to move forward for a design build of an aquatic center, approved the sale of 24 single family home lots and more.
Director of Parks and Recreation Carol Cosby addressed the board Monday as a part of the Aquatic Center Committee asking for board direction.
The district developed the Aquatic Center Committee in 2019, and is comprised of a metro board member, two community members, one county commissioner and three Pueblo West Metro District employees.
Cosby said the committee was able to meet four times over the course of 2020.
