SIOUX FALLS – Sioux Falls Washington’s big front-line duo helped the Warriors run past the Pierre Governors in girls basketball Thursday at Washington High School, 70-20.
Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda led Washington with 21 points, including 16 in the first half, and two three-pointers. Sydni Schetnan scored 11 points with nine rebounds. Brielle Biteler added 10 for the home team.
Remington Price hit two three-pointers for her team-leading six points for Pierre (6-8).
After Price’s first three-pointer, the Governors trailed 4-3, but were then outscored 40-9 for the rest of the first half and trailed 44-12 at halftime.

MITCHELL – Pierre Governor boys basketball pulled off possibly the biggest upset this season in AA, stunning third-ranked Mitchell 46-44 at the Corn Palace. Lincoln Kienholz hit a driving layup with 30 seconds left to put the Governors in front, then Mitchell missed three close chances to tie the game in the last seconds.
Kienholz led Pierre (5-7) with 17 points. Matthew Hanson hit 12 on four-of-five three-pointers.

PIERRE – Mitchell rebounded from an early deficit Tuesday to top Pierre Governor girls basketball 50-45 at the Riggs High Gym.
Macy Kempf led Mitchell with 13 points. Cameron Krogman scored 11, including an important three-pointer late in the fourth quarter.
Pierre (6-7), who led by as many as nine in the first quarter, had 21 points from Remington Price, her third game this season scoring at least that many.

YANKTON – Pierre Governor girls basketball picked up its offense late in the first quarter Friday and breezed to a 51-22 win over the Yankton Gazelles at the Summit Center.
Leading just 6-4 late in the opening period, Pierre (6-6) then scored the next 13 points and built a 28-9 halftime lead.
Layni Stevens and Caytee Williams led the Governors with 10 points each. Remington Price, Ayvrie Kaiser and Ryann Berry each scored seven.
On Tuesday, the Governors will host Mitchell at the Riggs High Gym. Pierre lost in Mitchell 46-36 on January 14. ABERDEEN – Pierre Governor boys basketball had its three-game winning streak end Tuesday with a 70-60 loss at Aberdeen Central.
Harrison Reede led four Golden Eagle double-figure scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers.
Lincoln Kienholz led Pierre (4-6) with 25 points, three three-pointers, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jackson Edman had another double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Jack Merkwan added 10 points.
