If there is one state that never fails to captivate me, it is Himachal Pradesh. I spent quite a few months there back in the late 70s and early 80s, staying with Himachalis and eating a lot of
khatti dal and a sour pickle the region is known for. Having grown emotionally attached to their simple cuisine, I always rued the fact that there were hardly any outlets offering Himachali food in Delhi.

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], January 12 (ANI): As part of efforts to give boost to tourism in the state, Haryana Government has decided to develop Pipli in Kurukshetra as a world-class tourist hub.
The decision was taken in the meeting of Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board (HSHDB) held under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today.
The tourist hub would be developed by Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board (HSHDB).
It will be developed on Saraswati Setu in Pipli and would attract tourists from within the country and abroad and place Haryana on the international tourist map, a state government release said on Monday.
BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Wednesday cleared investment projects worth Rs 6,443 crore including some expansion projects in diverse sectors which will generate around 4,700 jobs.
The high-level clearance authority (HLCA) led by chief minister Naveen Patnaik that generally approves individual investment projects of more than Rs 1,000 crore cleared three projects while the state-level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA) led by chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra gave its nod to five projects with individual investment potential of less than Rs 1,000 crore.
Among the approved projects include expansion of Yazdani Steel and Power Limited’s integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district from existing Rs 0.07 million tonne per annum (mtpa) to 1.19 mtpa. The Odisha-based company has planned to invest Rs 2415 crore in the expansion project which will create additional employment opportunities for 2867 persons, said an official communication.
