Odisha govt issues Covid-19 guidelines for Feb, permits 500 to attend marriage, funeral ANI | Updated: Jan 30, 2021 15:35 IST Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], January 30 (ANI): The Odisha government on Saturday issued the Covid-19 guidelines for the month of February. As per the guidelines as many as 500 persons are allowed to attend marriage or funeral related gatherings. Marriage, funeral and last rites related gatherings shall be allowed with a ceiling of 500 persons, following the guidelines of COVID-19, the guidelines read. In closed spaces, a maximum of 50 per cent of the hall capacity will be allowed subject to the ceiling, the order said. Although large gatherings and congregations will continue to be prohibited across the state.

File photo   | Photo Credit: The Hindu Photo Library First-year students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly those from rural areas, are finding it difficult to attend classes on campus as hostels run by the Minorities Department and the Backward Classes Welfare Department (BCWD) have yet to call for applications. Ever since physical classes for intermediate semesters began on January 16, many students have been spending over two hours travelling to their colleges as they do not have alternative accommodation nearby. “With all this travelling to and from the campus, we are missing the first lectures,” said a student. Others are continuing with online classes until applications for hostels open.
