Hẻm Gems: In a Converted Classroom Lives the Unique Open Space of Nhà Phạm

Saigoneer Trigger Having ventured into Saigon s food scene for a while, I have one guiding principle: the best spots are always the ones circulating via word of mouth. Quiet corners, culinary rarities and communities that have their own niches you simply don’t find these things on the search bar of an average food review channel. Read this article in Vietnamese here. Nhà Phạm, a cafe casually name-dropped by a friend of mine, is peculiar. I can only assume whoever reading this will know what I mean when they see it. But I’d like to disperse any preconceived judgment by saying that it’s not just peculiar because the decor is retro though indeed it’s a trope that’s been exploited to death by Saigonese coffee shops, causing a confusing state of nostalgia.
