The Ministry of Health confirmed 36 more domestic coronavirus cases in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, all traced to a registered religious sect.
The cases were linked to Revival Ekklesia Mission, a Christian congregation based in Go Vap District, the health ministry said in a report.
This sect was given a permit in 2006, Nguyen Duy Tan, head of religious affairs at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations, said on Thursday.
The patients live in District 12, Binh Thanh District, Go Vap District, Tan Binh District, Tan Phu District, Hoc Mon District, Nha Be District, and district-level Thu Duc City, the municipal Center for Disease Control said in an epidemiological investigation the same day.

Nhà Phạm, a cafe casually name-dropped by a friend of mine, is peculiar. I can only assume whoever reading this will know what I mean when they see it. But I’d like to disperse any preconceived judgment by saying that it’s not just peculiar because the decor is retro though indeed it’s a trope that’s been exploited to death by Saigonese coffee shops, causing a confusing state of nostalgia.

A man fatally crashed his motorbike into another while fleeing after snatching a smartphone from a woman in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday night.
The incident took place on Dien Bien Phu Street in Ward 15, Binh Thanh District at around 10:30 pm, according to preliminary information.
Nguyen Thi Kim O., 24, was carrying Kieu Thi My H., 24, on a motorbike when they were approached by a man on a motorbike.
The man snatched H.’s smartphone, which she kept in the outer pocket of her backpack.
