Fino Payments Bank to on board 10000 women from SHGs as banking agents in Uttar Pradesh Posted On: 2021-02-19 04:43:52 (Time Zone: Arizona, USA) Fino Payments Bank is working with the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) to train and on-board 10000 women from Self Help Groups (SHG) as BC Sakhis in the state. The agreement in this regard was signed today at an event organised by the UP Government in the presence of the state s Honourable Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The project, implemented over the next three months, is part of UPSRLM s mission to on-board around 58,000 women as BC (business correspondent) Sakhis or banking agents across all the 75 districts of the state. Fino is one of banking partners and facilitators engaged for the project to appoint BC Sakhis. The project is aimed at improving banking access in rural UP and enhancing the household income of the SHG members.

RBI received 1,500 complaints against digital loan apps, over 100,000 digital transactions complaints Credit: PTI The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has received 1,509 complaints related to digital lending mobile applications, of which around 1,019 were against unregulated and unregistered digital loan apps, the Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur told Parliament. In terms of digital transactions, the central bank received 137,823 complaints in 2019-20, up by 113% from 64,607 complaints the previous year. Several members of Parliament had raised the issue of predatory digital loan apps in the Lok Sabha, and sought responses from the government on what corrective steps it had taken or proposed to take up in order to protect the public. WhatsApp Pay s UPI service gets off to a sluggish start

February 9, 2021 WhatsApps’ payment service in India has got off to a sluggish start in the last few months, but is slowing gaining traction over payments apps. While several third-party apps on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have a higher market share than WhatsApp, in just a few months it has beat several banking and third-party UPI apps that have been around for longer. According to data from the National Payments Corporation of India, WhatsApp Pay processed 5.6 million UPI  transactions worth Rs 36.44 crore in January 2021, compared to 8.1 million UPI transactions worth Rs 29.72 crore in December 2020. The global messaging platform was allowed to commercially launch only in November last year, after two years of beta-testing. Between November and December, the volume of transactions grew by 161% while the value of transactions by 114%. However, between December 2020 and January 2021, the volume of transactions fell by 31% while the value of transactions grew by 22%.
