The incident was initially reported as a ShotSpotter activation. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 27 year old Pittsfield man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported to Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries. The victim s injuries are not considered life-threatening. At this time it appears that the victim was targeted by his assailant and there is no apparent threat to the public. During the investigation and processing of the scene, a portion of First Street was closed for a brief period of time. The Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Pittsfield Police Department apprehended a man yesterday in regards to sexual abuse and a stolen vehicle.
According to Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood, the Pike County Sheriff’s Department received information regarding a motor vehicle that had been stolen out of Lawrence County, Alabama. The stolen vehicle was originally located in Calhoun County by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department who had attempted to stop the vehicle.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department took over the vehicle pursuit and eventually conducted a PIT maneuver on the fleeing vehicle, which disabled the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger fled from the vehicle on foot.
Early this morning a Pittsfield man was shot near the Cumberland Farms on First St.
At approximately 4:28 AM members of the Pittsfield Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the area of 168 First Street in Pittsfield. The incident was initially reported as a ShotSpotter activation.
