DEP is advancing actions to support electric vehicle usage throughout the Commonwealth.
HARRISBURG The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced its latest actions to help expand electric vehicle use statewide–more than $936,000 in grant funding for projects to install 16 more fast chargers in high-traffic areas, the start of a draft rulemaking to make electric vehicles more readily available to consumers, and the release of a booklet on the benefits and basics of these zero emission vehicles.
“Our transportation decisions affect Pennsylvania today and tomorrow. We can turn in the direction of healthier air quality and slow down climate change by switching to electric vehicles, whether we’re government officials, business owners, school administrators, community leaders, or individual consumers,” said DEP Secretary Patrick McDonnell. “DEP is committed to supporting this choice by increasing public knowledge of electric vehic

A Delta airplane is stuck in a large ditch at Pittsburgh International Airport in Moon Township.
A plane with 77 people on board slid off a taxiway before takeoff at Pittsburgh International Airport, but no injuries were reported. Delta Air Lines Flight 2231 was about to depart when it slid partway into a ditch around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Boeing 717 was headed to Atlanta.
The plane was safely evacuated, and all those on board were driven by bus back to the terminal. Delta said many passengers chose to continue their travel late Wednesday night on an alternate aircraft it provided, while others left Thursday morning on a regularly scheduled flight.

Passengers on a Delta flight were a tangled ball of emotions when their plane slid off a taxiway close to a ravine just before takeoff.
The flight was leaving Pittsburgh International Airport to Atlanta.
At first, everyone went into a panic, not sure what was happening, and they were calm once the plane skid to a halt.

ATLANTA Passengers arriving in Atlanta early Thursday morning described a generally calm atmosphere aboard a Delta flight that skidded off the taxiway before it could take off in Pittsburgh last night, and then shock once they got off the plane and saw what the full situation looked like.
According to an airline spokesperson, Delta flight 2231 was taxiing around 6:30 p.m. prior to departure when the Boeing 717 plane exited the taxiway paved surface.
