Michigan is poised to benefit from several key policy goals of President Joe Biden’s new adminitration, political observers say.
Biden’s close relationships with Michigan’s elected officials are expected to result in a solid partnership between the White House and leaders of an important electoral battleground state. Several policy goals identified by the incoming president, who will be inaugurated in Washington D.C. on Jan. 20, also overlap with some of the most pressing issues facing Michigan.

At least five of President-elect Joe Biden’s cabinet picks ahead of his inauguration have expressed pro-gun control views in the past.
Four of the former vice president’s selections have called for an “assault weapons” ban, and one of whom has been appointed to a top domestic policy role.
Pro-Second Amendment groups like the Gun Owners of America fear a continuous court battle “over the next four years” is brewing.
