While the pandemic shut down many events and delayed numerous other activities this past year, 2020 still offered some significant news in the area.

The biggest local crime story of the year was right at the beginning: a double homicide in Concord Township.

Holden Forests & Gardens announced it will kick off the new year with virtual classes for nature lovers including Garden for All Seasons: Marjorie Merriweather Postâs Hillwood on Jan. 21.

Set on 25 acres in Washington, D.C., Hillwood is the embodiment of Marjorie Merriweather Postâs grand vision, according to a news release. Working with the landscape duo Umberto Innocenti and Richard Webel and Perry Wheeler, Post shaped a setting with a diverse and verdant array of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants, offering something to see in every season.
