Subscriber only A MAN charged with the murder of Gold Coast teenager Jack Beasley has been jailed for again breaching bail, but will be back in the community by next week. The 20-year-old, who the Bulletin cannot name for legal reasons despite him being an adult, has breached bail 13 times since he was released from custody by the Supreme Court in March 2020, the Bulletin can reveal. In the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, the man was jailed for 21 days for breaching curfew on April 30. The offence also triggered a suspended sentence he was given days earlier in the Ipswich Magistrates Court for breaching bail.

Premium Content  The scourge of domestic violence is worsening across the state as statistics from the Queensland Courts reveal frightening increases in domestic violence orders (DVOs) made. More than 38,000 DVOs have been made by the Queensland Courts over the last year, the majority of which were lodged at Southport, Beenleigh and Brisbane. Women are, more often than not, the victims of domestic violence in Queensland, representing 77 per cent of those who require court protection. The orders can include conditions that limit or ban contact between the defendant and the aggrieved, prevent the defendant from coming within a a certain distance of the aggrieved, and order the defendant to be of good behaviour to the aggrieved, among other things.

Subscriber only A Sippy Downs man has been charged for a string of offences after tyre spikes were used to curb his hours-long spree of alleged dangerous driving actions. The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged on Saturday night after allegedly driving dangerously through Browns Plains. Police first noticed a silver Holden Commodore driving along Browns Plains Road without registration plates at 5.30pm with the vehicle then allegedly performing a burnout and accelerating away when officers tried to intercept. Polair monitored the car throughout the Logan area. About 6.30pm, the man allegedly parked the car at a shopping centre in Boronia Heights, before stealing a white Jeep from the carpark.
A 25-year-old man has been charged after allegedly driving dangerously through Browns Plains.
Around 5.30pm yesterday (May 1), police noticed a silver Holden Commodore driving along Browns Plains Road without registration plates. It will be alleged officers attempted to intercept the vehicle when it performed a burnout, before accelerating away.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed, causing it to come to a halt on Chambers Flat Road with the man subsequently being arrested.

Witnesses of the alleged abuse were cross-examined during a committal hearing at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday, where they recounted the shocking alleged events of June 19, 2020.
