Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 12) Half of the Senate filed on Monday a resolution calling for an investigation into reports of funds from state coffers being used to finance alleged troll farms spreading misinformation and fake news online.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Thursday, July 8, kicked off their public consultations by praying for “God’s guidance and wisdom” about their possible bid for higher national posts in the 2022 elections.

Photos posted on Sotto’s official Facebook pages showed him and Lacson stopping by the Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan. Sotto’s office said these were before meeting Malolos officials as part of their consultative tour across provinces in Luzon.
