A testing breakthrough internally developed by the Atlantic Health System will allow patients to be rapidly screened for the increasing number of COVID-19 variants identified in New Jersey.
The organization will begin surveillance testing for the variants throughout the system, which includes Morristown, Chilton, Overlook and Newton medical centers. Chilton is in Pequannock and Overlook is in Summit.
In a partnership with South Korea-based Seegene and using its recently developed research-use variant detection multiplex tests, the organization will have patients undergo rapid screening specifically for the variants linked to the United Kingdom, Brazil and South Africa.
