ORANGE, Texas The fish were biting at the bassmasters elite tour in orange as anglers from across the U.S. packed the Sabine River for a chance to go home a winner.
While Oklahoma native, Jason Christie, who finished with just over 43 pounds of fish, actually won the tournament, the Orange community also won big.
This year s tournament probably meant more for the Orange community the the fishermen as the tournament, that brings in a lot of revenue to the city, was cancelled last year due to the pandmeic.

Kenora’s Jeff Gustafson will look to improve on Thursday as the Dovetail Games Bassmaster Elite at Sabine River enters day two.
Gussy finished day one in Texas with three bass for a total weight of 4 lbs 10 oz.
That weight is a full 11 lbs back of Brock Mosley who finished the first day with 15 lbs 10 oz.
This is the fourth event of the season on the Bassmaster Elite circuit.
At the last event in Alabama, Gustafson finished 89th.
The Dovetail Games Bassmaster Elite at Sabine River is set to end on Sunday.

ORANGE, Texas 2021 is slowly starting to look a little more normal. As COVID-19 restrictions ease, we re starting to see the return of big events to Southeast Texas.
Events like the Bassmaster Elite fishing tournament is back on. It ll bring tens of thousands of people to the region.
Some of the best anglers in the country are headed back to Orange.
The Bassmaster Elite at Sabine River, cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, was originally rescheduled for August 2021. But since Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reopened the state, Bassmaster announced they d go with their originally planned dates of April 8-11.
