Gibson, Maldonado, Callahan elected to Elgin City Council
Three seats were up for grabs in the Elgin City Council with Arthur Gibson III, Skyler Maldonado and Matthew Callahan winning those elections, according to the unofficial results Saturday night.
In the race for one of the Ward 1 positions, Arthur Gibson III defeated Sarah Gudenkauf. Gibson received 66 votes compared to Gudenkauf s 47.
Gibson, a third-generation resident of Ward 1, unsuccessfully ran for election to a Ward 1 seat in November against Elgin Mayor Pro Tem Jessica Bega.
The Lake Travis Film Festival announced a packed lineup full of short films and feature length productions for movie lovers to enjoy. The event
was pushed back until June 10-13 and will be held in person for the second year of its existence.
The first festival took place in February 2020, right before the coronavirus pandemic hit the area, and the organizers decided to delay this year s event to be able to offer in-person screenings.
Festival Executive Director Kat Albert said she is most excited for the screenwriting workshop with J.V. Hart that will kick off the weekend. Hart’s writing and producing credits include Hook, Contact, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Muppet Treasure Island and August Rush.

As reported by Crossroads Today, the Fayette Country Sheriff s department helped Bastrop County with a chase on FM 153, heading towards Winchester. NOTE: Our cover photo is a stock image.
Bastrop County said the driver was possibly involved in a disturbance, was possibly intoxicated, and had active warrants out of Hays County for robbery and assault family violence. There were subsequent reports that there was a toddler in the vehicle. The child was not harmed on injured in any way. It is not known if the car was left running with the kid in the back seat before the driver jumped in, but this isn t the first time that I have written about a kid in a back seat during a high-speed chase.
