VIJAYAWADA: The YSRC swept the fourth phase of panchayat elections held on Sunday by wresting 2,291 of the total 2,844 sarpanch seat results announced till late night. It was a clean sweep by the YSRC-backed candidates in all panchayats in Pulivendula, the constituency represented by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The YSRC won all the 108 panchayats in Pulivendula segment for which elections were held of the total 109. About 90 of YSRC-backed candidates were elected unopposed. KADAPA: A YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) activist Mudumala Bhaskar Reddy (52), was brutally murdered by TDP members on Sunday in Mudumala village, Brahmangarimatham mandal, Maidukuru constituency in YSR Kadapa district.
According to the victim s family members and locals, the YSRCP supporters were unanimously elected as the sarpanches of Mudumala and Palugurallapalle panchayats in the elections held recently.
One Meesala Duggireddy, a TDP leader from Jaukupalle in Palugurallapalle panchayat who was unable to handle the loss over the unanimous win of the YSRCP leader, came with his followers and accosted Bhaskar Reddy between Mudumala and Jaukupalle villages on Sunday. In a fight that ensued, he asked Bhaskar Reddy to compromise and in a fit of rage, the TDP activist hit him hard on the head with an iron rod. After Bhaskar Reddy collapsed, they fled from there.

‘CBI, ED can carry on with their probe’
The Telangana High Court on Friday passed an interim direction staying declaration of M/s Coastal Projects Limited’s bank account as fraud by the Reserve Bank of India and other banks.
A bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy passed this order after hearing a writ petition filed by Sabbineni Surendra of the company. While the company’s bank account declaration as fraud was stayed, the bench made it clear that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials were at liberty to proceed against the company in accordance with law.

As part of the ongoing programme to distribute house sites to the eligible beneficiaries, TUDA Chairman and government whip Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy formally launched the event in Pakala mandal, forming part of his Chandragiri constituency, on Sunday.
Adding a tinge of sentiment to reach out to his voters, he gave a linen sari, sweet box, Tirumala Laddu, Sri Padmavathi Ammavari prasadam comprising kumkum and turmeric, bangles, fruits and flowers, along with the patta at Upparapalle village. After unveiling a plaque and performing ‘Bhumi Puja’, he watered a sapling planted at ‘Jagananna Colony’ in Neladanipalle of Mogarala Panchayat.
