Diskussion Einen Tag vor der Eröffnung der Olympischen Spiele in Tokio sind weitere Corona-Fälle bekanntgeworden. Zu den zwölf Betroffenen, die das Organisationskomitee vermeldete, gehören auch zwei Athletinnen, die im olympischen Dorf wohnen. Der jüngste Fall, den sein eigenes Team öffentlich machte, war Donnerstagnacht der tschechische Radprofi Michal Schlegel. Die Zahl der positiven Tests, die seit 1. Juli im Olympia-Umfeld ermittelt wurden, nähert sich damit der 100er-Marke. Im tschechischen Olympiateam gib es bereits sechs Covid-Fälle, darunter vier Aktive. Schlegel wird nun am Samstag nicht am olympischen Straßenrennen teilnehmen, er befindet sich in Isolation. Davor war bereits bekannt geworden, dass auch die Beachvolleyballerin Marketa Nausch-Slukova positiv auf das Virus getestet worden war. Auch ihr österreichischer Ehemann und Trainer Simon Nausch hatte bereits einen positiven Test abgegeben.

Czech Beach Volleyball Player, Cyclist Test Positive for COVID-19; Team Launches Investigation
PRAGUE Two more members of the Czech Olympic team have tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total to six, and the country’s Olympic Committee has launched an investigation into a charter flight bringing athletes to Tokyo.
The Czech Olympic Committee (COV) said on Thursday women’s beach volleyball player Marketa Nausch-Slukova and cyclist Michal Schlegel were the latest to test positive, raising the number of Czech athletes at the Tokyo Olympics infected by the virus to four, plus two other team members including Nausch-Slukova’s husband and coach Simon Nausch.
