His judge-alone trial in May heard he gave police the code to the safe, he had a unit at the storage facility in his name, and one of the keys found in the safe opened a padlock on the unit. The unit contained a Toyota Hilux reported stolen in 2017, cannabis in a paint bucket and multiple guns.

Laura Brown appeared in the Palmerston North District Court on Wednesday, where her application for a limited licence was granted. Judge Lance Rowe said he was satisfied not granting Brown’s limited licence application would lead to extreme or undue hardship. No further details were given in court. Outside court Brown confirmed the licence was so she could go to work, but she declined to comment further. At the time of the fatal crash she was a Waka Kotaki NZ Transport Agency employee. She was also driving alone, with no L plates displayed, in breach of the learner licence she held for nine years.

Is Advance NZ co-leader Billy Te Kahika Jnr who he says he is, a man of Christian values and integrity? Duty lawyer Tim Hesketh said Cribb intended to represent himself. Cribb, whose occupation on court documents is listed as “nurse”, is at large until his next appearance in May. The charges come on top of a miserable campaign for Cribb. He came dead last in Rangītikei in 2020, getting 879 votes. Cribb also had to contend with vandalism and theft issues, with nearly $1000 worth of signs being taken down or removed early on in the campaign. The party he ran for also encountered multiple issues, including being rapped over the knuckles for spreading misinformation and revelations about former leader Billy Te Kahika’s business dealings and handling of donations.
