A driver who chased two thieves on a motorbike stolen from his house has been jailed for 10 years for killing one of them.
Mihai Dinisoae, a Romanian national, was sentenced on Wednesday for the manslaughter of 28-year-old Josh Molloy, who was thrown from the bike and against a lamppost when Dinisoae hit the motorcycle in his Vauxhall Vectra.

Mr Molloy and his associate, a 29-year-old man, had stolen the motorbike from outside Dinisoae s home in Baldwin Avenue, Fenham, on 5 May, prompting a high-speed chase through Newcastle.

Newcastle Crown Court was told Mr Molloy and an associate had stolen Dinisoae’s motorcycle from outside his home on Baldwin Avenue. The 32-year-old was alerted to the theft and, instead of contacting police, got behind the wheel of his Vauxhall Vectra and made off in pursuit.

Marionâs homeless community now has a special hotline where they can find help with food, shelter or clothing.
On Wednesday morning, a group of committed advocates âbroke groundâ at East Marion Pentecostal Holiness Church for the new Code Purple Hotline 828-764-1295. This hotline has been created to aid the local community with finding basic needs. This is a joint effort by the church, the Marion East Community Forum, the Letâs Act Army - McDowell, McDowell Mission Ministries and other local organizations.
The Rev. Jeff Palmer and his wife Niki from East Marion PHC and Debora Workman of the Marion East forum will answer the 24-hour hotline number and refer the caller to local services for food, shelter and clothing. They are teaming up with Centro Unido Latino-Americano and St. Johnâs Episcopal Church food pantry for food support.
