All through the mock draft season, we’ve been bringing you mock drafts written by national analysts. While these writers may have a solid understanding of individual draft prospects, they may not have the best handle on the needs and philosophies of every NFL team.
So now we bring you the results of SBNation’s annual
, in which team experts from our 32 NFL sister sites make selections for the teams they cover. Is this projection of the first round going to be 100% correct? Probably not. But no one is going to be able to say they didn’t understand their team’s needs.

With the 31st pick in the 2021 SB Nation mock draft, Baltimore Beatdown selects Trevon Moehrig, safety, TCU. Moehrig joins Terrace Marshall Jr. to round out the Ravens’ first round.
Moehrig is the perfect “but they needed a ” pick. In this scenario, the Ravens already rounded out their receiver room, fulfilling one perceived need. Ignoring edge rushers and the offensive line is a bold move, as the Ravens don’t pick again until the 94th pick. However, the Ravens have hosted Alejandro Villanueva and Justin Houston, with strong rumors that at least one will be signed after the May 3 deadline for the compensatory formula. If those deals are in place, the Ravens will get to prove their affinity for taking the best player available. Moehrig certainly fits the description, as you’ll struggle to find many pundits with a low grade on the rangy, intelligent, playmaking safety.

In the SB Nation 2021 Mock Draft, the Baltimore Beatdown staff came to the decision to select Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU with the 27th overall pick. This would mark the second straight year the Ravens used a first round pick to dip into the talent pool that took the world by storm in 2019 when LSU went one of the more memorable collegiate championship runs in recent history.
