Polenergia, Equinor Sign Grid Connection Contract for Bałtyk I OWF

February 1, 2021, by Adrijana Buljan MFW Bałtyk I, a company owned by Polenergia and Equinor, has signed an agreement with the Polish grid operator Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) for the connection of the Bałtyk I offshore wind farm to the electricity distribution network. At the beginning of 2019, PSE specified the connection conditions for Bałtyk I, which allow the project to be built to its full capacity of 1,560MW. The offshore wind farm is one of the three projects that Polenergia and Equinor are jointly developing in the Baltic Sea, the other two being Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III. With Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III each having a 720 MW capacity, the three offshore wind farms being developed by Polenergia and Equinor will have a total installed capacity of 3 GW.

Poland s PKN, Canada s Northland to develop Baltic wind project

By Reuters Staff 2 Min Read WARSAW, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Poland’s state-run oil refiner PKN Orlen has partnered with Canada’s Northland Power to jointly develop a 1.2 gigawatt offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, PKN said on Friday. Poland is pushing development of offshore wind in its future energy mix, complemented by solar and nuclear energy, with the European Union pressing it to cut carbon emissions. The Polish Baltic Sea region has been attracting foreign investors as local companies seek international expertise and experience. Private energy firm Polenergia is working with Equinor, while state-run PGE is in talks with Orsted on a joint project.
