A BILLINGHAM pub fined £1,000 for breaching lockdown rules has seen its licensing hearing adjourned until July. The Porky Pint was handed the four figure penalty for breaching coronavirus restrictions after Cleveland Police and licensing officers from Stockton Council visited on January 30. Customers were seen drinking inside – and Cleveland Police launched a council licensing review in the wake of the visit. But landlord Paul Henderson hit back in the aftermath – accusing the authorities of “trying to ruin and destroy” a small independent business for questioning what he called the “unlawful and illogical” actions of the Government. A licence review to decide whether the Mill Lane eatery and pub will be allowed to keep its ability to sell booze was due to take place last week.
