SAN DIEGO
After calling downtown San Diego home for 41 years, Salvation Army leaders have mixed feelings as they prepare to move their headquarters and warehouse to a bigger campus in Otay Mesa later this month.
“It’s a great location, great for folks in the program, and central to the county,” said Salvation Army Major Henry Graciani, commander of the nonprofit’s USA western territory. “But it was very old, tired, and very expensive to operate.”
Now stationed in Carson, Graciani had been in charge of the San Diego operation from 2010 to 2017 and said he has fond memories of what he called “the good old days.”
