In spite of two days of incredibly varying conditions, there were no major surprises at the winners enclosure in this year’s MGM Boats Irish Laser Masters Nationals hosted by the Royal St. George Yacht Club.
Dublin Bay served up its usual blend of light winds, sea breezes and 15 knots, all in one race. While the conditions challenged race officer Harry Gallagher and his team, they led to dramatic results in some races.

Firm behind M&G’s digital advice model adds non-exec

Ignition Advice UK, the technology firm working with M&G to develop a “hybrid digital advice offering” for the wealth manager, has appointed former FNZ chief executive Paul McMahon as non-executive director.
McMahon has more than 35 years financial services industry experience in the UK and Europe including in non-executive director roles.
His previous experience includes senior executive positions at Zurich Financial Services, managing director of Axa Sun Life (which later became Friends Life) and group marketing director at Aegon.
He was chief executive of platform technology provider FNZ for less than a year and departed from the company in March 2013.

A busy ship, the old saying goes, is a happy ship. And a sailor in enforced idleness can be – at the very least - one decidedly grumpy so-and-so. Thus the multiple limitations of pandemic lockdowns have posed a challenge to people who are only kept happy by having at least one project on the go. But it has taken some ingenuity for normally active out-and-about sailing types to find an absorbing task that enables them to stay within the walls without going up those same walls.
