After a drug dog “hit” on the package, it was opened at the Fargo Post Office, and was found to contain 992 grams or more than 2 pounds of vacuum-packed meth.

Alexis Danielle Billing, 23, of Park Rapids, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of third-degree controlled substance crime.
The original first-degree charge was reduced in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on Jan. 18, 2019, an inspector with the U.S. Postal Service notified the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force about a package that had been delivered to a Ponsford residence from a suspected meth source in San Bernardino, Calif.

BEMIDJI In recent months, the northwest region of Minnesota has seen opioid-related overdoses skyrocket.
Several local law enforcement agencies the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department, Red Lake Tribal Police, White Earth Tribal Police, Leech Lake Tribal Police and the Bemidji Police Department recently co-authored a press release, warning the public that many of these overdoses have been linked to fentanyl, a synthetic opioid.
Under the jurisdictions of these agencies, there have been 62 recorded overdoses since Dec. 1. Ten of those overdoses resulted in fatalities.

PINE RIVER Four people were arrested in connection with dealing methamphetamine in the area in two separate investigations in rural Pine River.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reported the arrests were a result of an ongoing drug investigation. Investigators executed the first search warrant Dec. 29 at a residence in Barclay Township, in rural Pine River. Authorities seized a large amount of suspected methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia and ammunition. A 61-year-old Pine River woman and a 58-year-old Pine River man were taken into custody and are currently being held in the Crow Wing County Jail in Brainerd. The Cass County Attorney’s Office is preparing criminal charges against the two suspects.
