All change at Halton Council as half of executive board are replaced

By Mark Smith It will be all change at Runcorn Town Hall with a string of new additions to the council\ s executive board IT is all change at the top of Halton Borough Council with the incoming leader making a string of changes to its ruling executive board. The changes mean the council will also have a dedicated climate change role for the very first time. Former deputy leader Mike Wharton looks certain to be officially unveiled as the authority’s new leader after Friday’s meeting of Full Council, replacing Rob Polhill who has held the position for the last 11 years.

Environment Secretary visits Cheshire s Delamere Forest | Chester and District Standard

ENVIRONMENT Secretary George Eustice MP visited Delamere Forest this week (May 18) to launch the England Trees Action Plan and announce over £25 million in support for woodland creation partnerships. The Mersey Forest, one of eleven Community Forests across England (ECF) has welcomed news of the announcement which will enable the second year of a new, five-year ECF programme called ‘Trees for Climate’. The programme launched in December 2020 and has already delivered hundreds of hectares of tree planting across the country. Cheshire West and Chester Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and pledged to support schemes to accelerate tree planting in the area.
