NJ students: SCVTHS students earn medals in championships View Comments Throughout the month of April, Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) students competed against other career and technical education students from around the state, in both virtual and in-person events, as part of the 2021 New Jersey SkillsUSA Championships. Out of the 73 students from SCVTHS who competed, 54 received medals including 25 gold. The gold medal winners are now eligible to test their skills at the upcoming, virtually held, SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in June.  During the National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), more than 6,000 career and technical education students will showcase their talents and compete in 100 different trade, technical and leadership fields.  All contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations. The test competencies are set by industry.

Have your say on Humber stretches of England Coast Path Natural England is calling for the public to have their say on proposals to improve public access along a 120-mile stretch of coast around the Humber estuary- From: A section of the Humber coast path at Paull Holme Strays The proposals recommend significant improvements to coastal footpaths enabling a continuous walking route around the estuary from Maplethorpe to the Humber Bridge on the south side, and Humber Bridge to Easington on the north bank. Dave Parker, Natural England East Midlands area manager, said: From the south the trail follows major coastal dune systems, saltmarshes and sea defences. It passes Donna Nook – one of the largest seal breeding colonies in the UK - before entering the seaside resort of Cleethorpes, quickly followed by Grimsby with its historical fishing heritage.

Date Time Yorkshire wetlands designated Site of Special Scientific Interest Natural England has today officially notified that the Dearne Valley Wetlands is a SSSI for its nationally important bird species, including the willow tit, as well as wetland birds such as bittern, garganey, lapwing, redshank and avocet. The SSSI links different pockets of valuable habitat in the Dearne Valley area between Pool Ings near Royston in the north, a large area between Worsbrough in the west, and Adwick Washland in the east. Natural England worked with a number of organisations on the SSSI proposal, including the RSPB, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Garganey Trust, Environment Agency, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster councils, together known as the Dearne Valley Green Heart Partnership.
