Public urged online as Hampshire ambulance calls increase. AN AMBULANCE Trust is encouraging people to use 111 online for medical advice as amount of emergency calls increases. South Central Ambulance Service says it is currently receiving 15 per cent more calls per day to 999 with non-emergency patient services also experiencing higher demand than usual. A number of factors are thought to be contributing to the rise including hot weather, COVID-19 transmission rates and an increase in people spending time outside as restrictions ease. But now the trust is calling on people to use the 111 online service for medical advice which offers patients advice on the best healthcare option, including a call back from a trained clinician or nurse, booking an appointment in A&E or providing advice on how to help patients recover.
