President Biden talks tough about winning on green energy. But China is already ahead in one critical area. By Cara Korte Experts: Biden s tough China stance damaging
When speaking about competition with China, President Joe Biden can sound as if he s taken the mic at a pep rally. They think they re gonna win. Well I got news for them, they will not win this race. We can t let them, Mr. Biden said during his remarks Tuesday at the Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
The race is the competition to produce green energy technologies. Global superpowers are vying to dominate the critical minerals market the raw materials such as copper, nickel, lithium, zinc and rare earth elements that are the building blocks of this century s energy sector. These minerals are used in electric vehicles, solar panels and wind turbines, as well as smartphones, robotics and military equipment.
With a mid-race brush to the top on a windy afternoon, Dontpokethedragon left the competition in his wake to romp in the $8,100 Open Pace on opening day at Century Downs Tuesday (May 18).
Dontpokethedragon landed in third from post 2 off the wings while 9-5 favourite Just A Start dueled with Outlaw Gunsablazin for the lead by a :27.3 opening quarter. As the tempo cooled, driver Dave Kelly hustled Dontpokethedragon out of third and to the point past a :57.3 half.
Kelly then quickened the pace into the backstretch while Just A Start and Outlawgunsablazin tired, forcing the backfield around them while Dontpokethedragon coasted by three-quarters in 1:26.1. With his margin widening around the final turn, Dontpokethedragon continued to grow his lead to the beam, hitting the finish of a 1:58.2 mile 11-and-a-quarter lengths in front of second-place finisher Armycaptin Hanover. I Ama Rocket closed for third.
THE fallout from last week s election continues in Bolton as the party groups hold talks to form an administration. No party has overall control in the borough but it seems highly likely that a Conservative minority-led council will be formed with the continuation of working agreement between the Tories and smaller party groups which has been in place since 2019. That arrangement is primarily with Farnworth and Kearsley First and Horwich and Blackrod First Independents, who each won another seat in the chamber last Thursday. The Conservative position is now strengthened and they are now the biggest party on the council with 20 of the 60 councillors.
