Leaders of Australia’s energy industry, government ministers and department representatives will gather in Melbourne next week for Australian Energy Week on 25-27 May.
Australian Energy Week brings together over 90 speakers in 60 sessions with an audience of almost 400 senior managers from 150+ organisations.
The conference sessions will cover the biggest issues facing the length of the energy supply chain, covering feedstock, generation, transmission, distribution, retail, end use, policy and regulation.
There will be a series of keynote presentations, case studies and interactive panel discussions in what will be the most significant discussion with representatives from the energy industry in 2021.

The body that runs Australia’s electricity market has formally warned the national regulator for the industry that coal power stations are increasingly likely to close prematurely as the transformation in the energy market tracks closer to a “fast change” scenario than to its central case.
Government policies such as the NSW energy infrastructure road map, the rapid uptake of rooftop solar, progress on large renewables projects and recent announcements on large-scale batteries all signal the market is developing more rapidly than had been thought likely, Australian Energy Market Operator interim chief executive Nino Ficca told Australian Energy Regulator chairwoman Clare Savage in a February 23 letter.

The NSW government will draw upon the expertise of the state’s energy experts, establishing a new board of sector representatives to provide advice on the job creation and manufacturing opportunities being created by the renewable energy sector.
The first Renewable Energy Sector Board was unveiled by NSW energy minister Matt Kean on Tuesday and will be tasked with providing guidance on how to best support job creation and economic benefits being created by the state’s ambitious energy plan.
“We have bought all the key players to the table to make sure we don’t miss any opportunities to support local jobs and industry as we modernise the State’s energy infrastructure over the coming decades,” Kean said.

The New South Wales government will fast-track planning approvals for the first batch of transmission network upgrades that are set to unlock the state’s first Renewable Energy Zone and billions in new clean energy investment.
NSW planning minister Rob Stokes announced on Thursday that the NSW government had declared the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission project a ‘Critical State Significant Infrastructure’ project, seeing it granted priority status throughout the planning approval process.
The project will see new transmission lines and substations constructed across the Central West Orana region, designed to boost the ability for new wind, solar and storage projects built in the region to connect to the grid and deliver power to the rest of the grid.
