More efforts in the Coachella Valley are being taken to get more students vaccinated
Monday, Desert Healthcare District, Desert Care Network, and Palm Springs Unified School District will begin providing COVID-19 vaccines to thousands of students. Starting Monday and continuing through Wednesday, vaccination clinics will be held on different campuses throughout the Coachella Valley. The Pfizer vaccine will be the shot available since the Food and Drug Administration approved emergency use of this vaccine to children ages 12-15. Valley seniors prepare for 2021 graduation season
New California Department of Public Health guidelines state commencement ceremonies for 2021 graduations can allow in-person attendees with limited capacities.
While graduates in 2020 experienced virtual and drive-by ceremonies, high school hope this year will allow them a more normal ceremony.
It was about this time last year that COVID-19 wiped out many graduation ceremonies. This is year valley school districts are hoping to hold in-person commencements.
News Channel 3’s Dani Romero has more on what some families say in-person ceremonies mean to them.
A La Quinta High School senior explained that finishing her last year during a pandemic was nothing short of a struggle.
Desert Sands Unified once again making beautiful music

Desert Sands Unified School District (DSUSD) schools, the
Desert Sands Educational Foundation (DSEF), with funds provided by an
Inland Empire Community Foundation grant, recently purchased more than 1,000 instrument bell covers for the music programs throughout the district. With these covers, all 11 DSUSD bands can now practice and perform indoors while following all current COVID regulations. The covers prevent the cross contamination and spread of droplet infection.
