What Infrastructure Plan Means for SoCal-to-Las Vegas Rail – NBC 7 San Diego

The fast-rail project between Las Vegas and the high-desert city of Victorville near the Cajon Pass has been considered since 2005, but it stalled several times, mostly over financing. Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada CEO M.J. Maynard endorsed the possibility of adding passenger rail service to Las Vegas as “another option for visitors to travel to Las Vegas, helping to alleviate congestion, improve our air quality and significantly enhance the overall visitor experience.” An average of 47,000 vehicles a day are counted on Interstate 15 at the Nevada-California state line, Maynard told the Review-Journal. That’s nearly 2,000 per hour. Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft called both the Amtrak and Brightline plans attractive and said the one that begins operating first likely will fare better.

After California s $100 Billion Light Rail to Nowhere, Biden May Fund More California Rail No One Needs

After 12 years of delays, mismanagement, and political gridlock, the total cost estimate for the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has reached $100 billion.  Initially budgeted at $35 billion, former California Gov. Jerry Brown’s dream of uniting California’s coastal metropolises and parts of the Central Valley has transformed into a disjointed, mismanaged fiscal nightmare with rising costs every single year following its inception. Democrats want another $4 billion + bond for the endless project that no one wants and that no one will use. Fresh off the triumph of the train that may possibly exist in the 2030s so that no one will ride it, there s another brilliant rail plan. Why bother finish your neverending project when you can just hop to another neverending project that no one needs.
