The getaway driver in an attempted armed robbery of a Dublin pub has been jailed for 18 months. Leo Fitzpatrick (21) later told gardaí that he didn’t know his accomplice Robert Cullen (29) had a sawn-off double barrel shot gun during the early morning raid. Fitzpatrick of Fortlawn Park, Clonsilla, Co Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to attempted armed robbery of Paddocks Pub, Littlepace, Clonee on June 11, 2018. He has no previous convictions. Cullen (29) of Briarwood Green, Huntstown, Dublin was jailed for seven and half years last July by Judge Martin Nolan after he pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to attempted robbery, possession of a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun and discharging a firearm.

Franck Lamour (53) was diagnosed with bipolar depression approximately 15 years ago and was unable to access the medication he had been taking during the Covid-19 lockdown last April. Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that this was an isolated incident which stemmed from Lamour s mental disorder and the restrictions on his life caused by the global pandemic. Lamour of Bird Avenue, Clonskeagh, pleaded guilty to production of a knife and threat to kill or cause serious harm at his address on April 7, 2020. He has no previous convictions.

A man was kicked out of his home by his mother and became homeless after being caught ordering €24,000 of cannabis online, a court has heard. Anthony McDonald (22) was arrested after customs officials intercepted the package containing the drugs which he had ordered online under the name “Mr Smith”. McDonald of Amiens Street, Dublin pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of cannabis for sale or supply at his former address of Cromcastle Court, Kilmore, on August 24, 2019. He has no previous convictions. Garda Peter Morris told Maurice Coffey SC, prosecuting, that customs officials intercepted the package which had been ordered from the United States. The package was to be delivered to his then home address to a “Mr Smith”.

Serial sex attacker loses appeal against conviction for random, brutal assaults on women

A serial sex attacker who targeted random women walking alone in the early hours of the morning has lost an appeal against his conviction. In a judgment delivered this morning the three-judge Court of Appeal dismissed all grounds, including a complaint that the offender was unlawfully detained by gardai following the final attack in which he grabbed a woman from behind while brandishing a knife. The 36-year-old, who can t be named for legal reasons, was convicted of offences for attacks on three women in the Clondalkin area of Dublin on September 11, 2011, September 3, 2015 and May 16, 2016. He was convicted of false imprisonment, sexual assault and assault causing harm in relation to the first two offences. His third victim, who was attacked in a laneway in broad daylight as she walked to a Luas stop on her way to work, struggled free and raised the alarm.
